Some Sad, Some Happy! Endings

Yo' people! We're back this week after a busy holiday season and a very Happy New Year beginning.  We're talking some sad endings (David Bowie, Patricia Elliott of One Life to Live, Mr. Celine Dion), but we've also got some happy endings (Downton Abbey, new writers at General Hospital), and some general life-and-shit observations. (White Oscars? White people? The Donald?)

It's a short one - the George Washington Bridge kicked my ass and we had a shorter-than-usual time to do our thing. Still, we hope you listen, and like.  Thoughts, ass-toot observations and commentary here, please.  We sure could use you.

It's So Hard to Say Goodbye...

This is a very belated post of a podcast we recorded two weeks ago.  (Sorry, Jordan Hudson!)  Maybe that's because we start off on a very sad note - the passing of our beloved David Canary.  It's hard to say goodbye to our soap stars - they work so very hard, give so very much, and don't always get the glory or accolades they deserve.  David, we adored you and are so very grateful for the work you did and the characters you gave us. The stories you helped tell are a big part of what brought our Pine Valley Podcast family together.  We love you and miss you so.

(And for those of you who shared with us the news of One Life to Live's Patricia Elliott's death, you can read more about her life and work here.)

Thank you for listening.  Hope you had a wonderful holiday, and have some sassy plans for the New Year.  Maybe you can tell us about them here?

Old Soaps, Same Stories... Pretty Much

Howdy folks! We're trying our hand at this podcast thing again, talking soap deaths, soap lifes, old faces at new soaps, old faces leaving old soaps... You get the picture.

The feedback from our last (first in-a-while) podcast was incredible.  And I mean, incredible.  So do your thing as only you know how, because we do this for you, and only you, and we just love hearing from you.  You know who you are, and you know how to do it, here.

Back to Life

We're back!  Just giving this little thing we call The Pine Valley Podcast another go, because we just like doing it for (both of) you listeners!

Jordan and I missed each other like crazy, and this week he's filling me in on all things soap, Twitter, and The View.  Plus Jordan's got another another "life," if you will - producing his very own soap, Latin Lives. Watch it, people - and subscribe to his YouTube channel. (He might get some cash for the production if you do!)

Since we're just basically freestyling and feeling our way back to y'all, we'll take you thoughts, comments, suggestion, well wishes (but no nasty tweets, Nancy Lee Grahn!) here.  And stay tuned - we certainly will!

Good News, Bad News... Here We Go Again!

In case you've not been following the real-life soapy antics of our drama queen friends over at Prospect Park, here's the story, in all its, uh, glory?

So here we go again, on another roller coaster ride.  Will One Life to Live live again? Will All My Children have more children?

What do you think?  We'd love to hear from you.  Leave those ass-toot thoughts and observations here, por favor.  And stay tuned - we certainly will!

Daytime Emmy Madness, and a Redo!

I can't for the life of me understand how the podcast is on iTunes one day, and gone the next.  So I'm trying again! (Gat-damned iTunes!)

Let's hope this works - and in the meantime, have fun with the press on Daytime Emmy Madness.  The world has truly gone mad when Judy Blind Wilson wins for casting and General Hospital gets 2 awards - and one of them goes to Ms. "Stare-Off-Into-the-Distance-and-Fake-Cry-While-My-Scene-Partner-Talks-to-My-Back" Kristen Aldersen!

Thoughts, people?  You have 'em here.  You know you want to.

Uh-Oh...

We're feeling a not-so-great case of deja vu here at The Pine Valley Podcast.

A work stoppage and head writer switches are among the, uh, things that have us, well, a little less than optimistic this week as we head into week 7 of the return of our All My Children and One Life to Live. Now that we've had our say (and boy, do we have our say), what do you, dear viewers and listeners, think of it all!  Let it rip (You don't need to be gentle!), here

The Good, The Bad, and the Dumb-ass

As we head into week 2 of the online return of All My Children and One Life to Live, Jordan and I are in clear agreement on some (and not so clear agreement on other) stories, performances, etcetera, etcetera.   But heck, that's what makes the Pine Valley Podcast the Pine Valley Podcast

What's really important, though?  It's what you, dear viewers and listeners, think.  So go forth and do your thing, here.  You know you want to.

We Are the Love We Give

Welcome Back, All My Children.  We missed you so.

We missed you, dear viewers and listeners, even more!  So please, do your thing, like you've always done, right here, right now.  We're so excited to hear from you all, we might burst.

PS - Another shout-out to our beloved Luis2K for our amazing new Pine Valley Podcast theme song!  You continue to amaze us with your generosity and talent.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So good to be together again, yo'!

Coming Back To Life With A New Beginning and SORAS

Ok, those are the best AMC, OLTL and soap puns I can come up with at this late hour. I still can't believe this is happening! In just a few hours our stories are back! So some things might be different. We're used to that. ABC was always screwing with writers, actors and stories. For the first time in eons though, Agnes is back with genuine input and folks that care about the fan experience. Call it what you will - rebirth, reboot, revival - whatev! Just make sure to share your ass-toot thoughts with us here on the blog. I'm re-setting the blog for fresh comments about our re-freshed shows. Just like AMC and OLTL, the Pine Valley Podcast is re-vived too. So keep posting here and checking back for a new podcast soon to be re-corded! Happy days!! Here's to the re-turn of our little community.

Love to all,
Shadow

Possibility (Or, "You Buy It, You Break It")

This week, it's all about "what" vs. "how" vs. "why."

What will All My Children and One Life to Live be like online?  With only a random handful of actors signed for each show, how the hell do they make it to air in a month?  Why-oh-freakin'-why do we need vampires (again) on General Hospital? (Though I am digging Michael Easton's hair extensions and bejeweled hand-toss gestures gi-normously.)  Should a company which pays $25 million dollars for two soap operas
(that would be Prospect Park) get to "take back" their characters from the network that sold them and the show that currrently "borrowed" them (that would be ABC and GH, respectively), or should $25 million just about sorta cover the costs of McBain and the Mannings?  (Honestly, Jordan Hudson.  Honestly!)

Lots to talk about, and talk we do.  Our co-host, the oh-so-thoughtful Shadow (at least when he's not making a masturbation joke - which always makes me giggle, by the way) joins us in the second half of the podcast, much to our delight! He'll fill us in on all things Prospect Park, and offer his own version of ass-toot and thought provoking commentary. Someone's gotta do it!

Maybe that someone is YOU! Tell us what you think, here.

Hope and Change

The folks at Prospect Park are at it again, but this time, they mean it.  Or do they?

Deals have been inked with the DGA and SAG-AFTRA (but the WGA can kiss PPk's fat ass).

Lots more news about all of this at Daytime Confidential and We Love Soaps - the situation (like our soaps) seems to be changing daily. (Hottest news?  Lindsay Hartley and Vincent Irrizarry are IN!)

One thing that isn't changing? Our delight in bringing you our opinions on all of this stuff (and then some).  But who cares about us?  Tell us what you think, here.

Cuckoo Birds and Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers

Hello PVPers!  This week, we're talking General Hospital (and only General Hospital).  Like Spinelli's "Bird Hunting" tips, we're offering you a guide to listening to The PVP this week:

1) Turn down the volume on your listening devices.  We've got stuff to scream about this week.

2) Listen, if you can bear the noise.

3) Leave your thoughts, observations, ass-toot comments here. (We could both use a bitch-slap or two.)

Miss you all bunches!

A Tragic Death Brings New Life to An Ailing Soap

People! Daytime is BACK! Thanks to the good folks at General Hospital - from Frank Valentini to Ron Carlivati to an uh-MAY-zing cast of newbies and vets alike - we got ourselves a daytime soap to ENJOY!

I, myself, look forward to enjoying daytime for the next few weeks. I'm 35 weeks preggers today and will pop in a month or so, so my DVR may get a little backed up after that!

(And if GH ain't your thing, we're still covering primetime and a teeny-tiny bit of reality, which is, of course, my department.)

What do y'all think of GH? Global warming? World peace? Let us know your ass-toot thoughts, here. We're nothing without you!

Baby Steps

Our first post AMC and OLTL podcast! Jordan and I discuss what's left of daytime (that we're actually watching - well, at least Jordan is), some primetime drah-ma, and, of course, The Bachelor. (That one was my addition to the conversation, naturally.)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments? Leave 'em here, please. We love hearing from you, darlings!

The End is Near (This Time, We Really Mean It)

So the week is almost over, and we have, at this writing, 6 more eppys left of our beloved One Life to Live. Jordan has been crying everyday at what he calls a "flawless" week of soap. (I agree - mostly. I could do without Nora's text message acting. You do get paid nicely for this, Hillary B. Smith. Whats the "B" stand for? Bullshit acting?)

Regardless, I'm loving the developments (and CRINGED when Mitch Lawrence was about to rape Natalie - and bit her earring! - and tugged at it!! - and groaned!!!). I'm at the edge of my seat with this stuff, and pondering what the EFF I'm gonna do without my OLTL to look forward to during the twins' nap??

(I, for one, thought Starr kissing NuCole was pretty hot, though I agree this actor lacks the edge and stature of Brandon Buddy, who would have NEVER cowered to pussy-boy James Ford.)

Anyhooo! Hope you enjoy our latest podcast. A little rambly, a little off-topic at times, but always done for you, dear viewer, with love and appreciation! Let us know what you think, here.

Hello New Year, Goodbye (Almost) to One Life to Live

No new podcast yet, folks - Jordan is way sick. I can deal with sick, but he's lost his voice. Believe you me, Jordan Hudson without his voice is like Melissa Archer without makeup-it ain't pretty. (Ouch! I'm actually liking Melissa Archer these days - just couldn't resist.) With all that is happening in daytime and on One Life to Live, it's not a good week for Jordan to go speechless. We'll podcast as soon as the man can talk.

In the meantime, just wanted to refresh the blog in preparation for the last few eppys (sniff, sniff) of One Life to Live. It's been an amazing few weeks of soap, people. If you're not watching, you're truly missing out. Some of the finest performances and finest storytelling in daytime is happening right now on this show. Jordan and I both even got a little choked up with the dang Rex And Gigi storyline! (And, no, we refuse to believe it was the acting. Ron Carlivati knows what the eff he's doing, methinks.)

Anyway, please feel free to check in with us here during the next two weeks as we commiserate over the murder of another one of our beloved daytime dramas. (Armless Phelan, you are right on the money with your 2012 wishes for that douchebag Brian Frons.) Perhaps even more importantly, let's celebrate the last few weeks on OLTL with all the support and love we can muster: these fine folks who make the show - from the actors to the writers to the producers to (most of) the wardrobe people (though someone in wardrobe MUST be hatin' on Cassie de Paiva and Erika Slezak) - deserve it.

Thoughts, love, lust, whatever you can muster, here, please.

Oh, and Happy, Happy New Year!! We love you all and are tremendously grateful that you've helped create this amazing place where soap fans can come together and have fun and intelligent conversation. May 2012 bring you everything that you wish for - and maybe give Kentucky Avenue productions a little money, to boot!
