I agree with you Ashley and Jordan that the final episode of OLTL was beautiful. The team hit the mark.

Can't wait to listen to your ass-toot commentary.

Downloading now, will offer my thoughts on the podcast tomorrow.

My computer isn't up to the 'challege' of downloading much of anything, these days. So, I patiently await the arrival of the Mannings & McBain in Port Charles. Until then, I will keep on reading (and posting) to the blog.

Caught the tail end of The Revulsion today. That may be even worse than The Chew. And that's saying something! I can't just turn to another soap opera, either. There's no other soap opera on at 2 in my area.

I am listening to The Archers live now, though. It's a fun experience because the British people chatting are all "oh, Tom, stop being annoying" and my American ass is shouting "DIE TOM DIE" in the live tweeting.

Tried watching GH today, and good god Frank and Ron cannot get there fast enough.

I finally got through the finale. It's been bat shit crazy here. I watched a little at work, a little Friday night, most of it in the backseat of my car waiting on the kids at golf Saturday and the final 10 minutes on Saturday night. All in all it took me 22 hours to watch the show.

So right off the bat I gotta say that people do not give birth on big soft sectional sofas. Secondly, they do not give birth on a couch in the den in front of 20 people who are basically eating Doritos and drinking beer. Third, said 20 people do not sit on said couch just covered in afterbirth and other bodily fluids and discharges which shall not be specified. Fourth, no little white towel on said couch is going to adequately protect said sofa from such afterbirth, unspecified discharges or Doritos cheese fingers.

I loved Destiny giving the little shit Matthew all the attitude she could muster whilst she spontaneously dialated from 0 to delivery in 3 seconds. My favorite scenes were Bo. There was so much emotion in his performance that had nothing to do with the story & everything to do with the show ending. Bo is my favorite. Always was. Woods is just a good dude. And Bo did the business with some really hot women before Bora, I mean Nora. I'm going to say it because although I like OLTL, it's still PVP. I cannot take my eyes off Nora's chin. What is with the chin? Is that a Botox thing? So distracting. Having said that, I thought the Bo Buchanan family got a nice, tidy conclusion. I may have missed it in the back if my car, but did Ty & Cat Hickland's characters just wander out of the cabin to Eterna or somewhere?

Like All My Children, I thought the days leading up to the finale were better than the finale episode. In both cases, I thought the finale episodes were great until the last few minutes when the pace quickened & tone changed. The final minutes on OLTL weren't quite as odd.

My absolute favorite part was the beginning when Allson was summarizing the characters and story of Viki as the central character with One Life to Live. It should give GH fans some hope that Cartini appreciate the importance of character development & consistency in serial drama. Nice to right the wrong of Jess being Mitch's daughter. I'm with DiscoDan on Mitch. Liked him when he was a con. Never a fan of the Waco Religious Zealot Mitch. Making Jess his daughter remind me of Stuart's murder. Both were ill-conceived in my opinion.

I thought there were lots of nice moments. I found Allison's drawl oddly entertaining. I'm not as aware of her character so I was impressed with the amount of screen time devoted to her the last few days.

NuCole won me over, but I was at my limit on Starr's crying. She's been crying for 52 days. And she chirps when she cries. Like she's 3. I know, I know. I've been chastised. Starr is the heart. Ok, but she annoys the Hell out of me. I appreciate that she has real friendships and all that good stuff. I would appreciate it more if she didn't annoy the Hell out of me.

Jordan Hudson, Canada welcomes you. ... and you too Ashley Mendoza!

Wonderful reportage of the OLTL finale. I agreed with you both on so many points. I will be listening to this PVP episode again because I'm sure that I missed things as I too kept getting caught up in the emotion. I was not a longtime OLTL viewer and only switched over a few years ago when AMC became totally unwatchable. Thank you Jordan for giving me the nudge with your "OLTL was HAWT this week!" proclamations. You did not lie and I was not disappointed by the show.

I have considered trying GH because of Ron C taking over and the Mannings moving to Port Charles but I think I will likely not because I can't set myself up to invest in another soap only to have it taken away in a year. I am definitely on the boycott ABC, at least ABC daytime, bandwagon. Cady Mclain however offers a different point of view. Check it out. http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/amcs-mcclain-sounds-boycotting-abc

How did we find out that David had a child out there somewhere?

Despite my snark, I thought the final two OLTL weeks were basically great. I wanted to see every day. I wantedcp to tweet & blog & FB immediately. ( I wanted to, but I didn't have time due to bat shit craziness.) I thought the returns were interesting. Where AMC went full on, tug my heart strings sentimental, OLTL kept building on some interesting plotlines. It was very well executed--a million times better than most of what is on PrimeTime & deserved of all it's buzz. It is hard to imagine ABC kicking it aside. Trust me, I took one for the Team & sampled The Revolution. It is hard to imagine ABC has been polishing that turd for a year. It is almost so bad it's funny but then screechy Ty Oennington looks so ill & the other cohorts are so bad it's actually uncomfortable. And those poor women on the show are pitiful hawking themselves like freak shows for the paying public. Seems more apt to scar then revolutionize.

Natalie grew on me by leaps & bounds. McBain too. I still don't get Tomas. Or Shane. Could he not get a haircut for the finale? That kid is awkward. Frat Row was greatness. Tuc Watkins was greatness. So wish Dorian had return for the President storyline but Tuc handled it nicely.

Despite being Clint's daughter I was sad Jess didn't really find any happiness. I'm surprised Tess didn't pop out for measure. The BS-O-Meter went off when Cole showed up in LA. The list who doesn't know about Cole is getting shorter by the minute. Tea? I guess she's happy? Blair? At least she got laid, but not a happy ending for her at all. Todd/Victor. Ok I guess. Sort of random. To me, I just don't include JR shooting the gun or Victor in bed as part of the ending. Everything up to those points were for fans & those things were for Brokedown Park Productions.

brtedi said...

Hey was it just me, or was that Ted King in a scene from GH, yesterday? - ;-) I say, bring it on, with the Mannings. Let's see what Ron C. does with GH...Can't wait!

ArmlessPhelan said...

Grain of salt, but rumours are flying around that GH may become a summer primetime series (allegedly in the new TV Guide), or may become an ABC.com exclusive (RavenBeauty, a soap spoiler/columnist who is usually fairly accurate). We'll have to wait and see.

And I tried watching it today. HORRIBLE show!

Shadow -- I LOVE that you called her BORA! I, too, have been obsessed with her mouth (Botox, or some sort of filler) and she has never been an actress who can cry on the spot so she scrunches her face up to compensate and it's so distracting with a face that has had some work b/c not everything moves naturally anymore. I mostly like that character -- but recently she's been a little to righteous (even for her) ...

Are we going to get any advance warning of when the oLTL actors will be on GH??? I can't wait to see how Starr ends up in NY after moving to LA! ANd soooo hopeful that Blair and Todd manage to stay together... MIssing my soaps badly this week.

At least I am also a political junkie - and there's lots going on there.. :)

Arizonagal said...

Oy Ashley you were right, the OLTL migration to GH is only temporary and that SUCKS. GH is dreadful and would have benefited from having some real actors.

It amazes me w/all the talented young actors around, TIIC can manage to find someone as talentless as that newbie mystery blond chick on GH. She's no Denise Vasi, she'd have to improve to be Vasi. She's stinking up the castle big time.

I have no complaints about the finale or any of the last month's OLTL episodes, they were all perfection and full of surprises.

Loving the news about the Revolution's sinking ratings. I just hope whatever ABC does, it tanks, UNLESS those assholes get smart and decide to revive our soap or soaps. Given the choice, I'd have to go with OLTL which went out on such a friggin high and was so far superior to any of the remaining suds. So screw you ABC, I'm pissed off.

If you haven't heard about it already, Dan Kroll & Pratt Falls hosted a special Soap Central Podcast called Biancapalooza that is pretty entertaining. It's 2 hours. They interviewed Eden & Christina together with call ins from Lena, Marissa, Eden's mother, fans, etc. Olga (Lena) is interesting. Sarah G. Still has never met Eden. No real revelations, but kind of fun and celebratory. You can doenload it on iTunes or the SoapCentral website. Pratt Falls has a link.

Still trying to watch GH. It's still horrible. I really can't defend the soaps for being cancelled when they're this horrible. Y&R, too. Just ugh.

I do like Joanna Coles much better than Tim Gunn. She actually offers opinions and thought provoking questions that are insightful. I noticed people call her M'am. Those contestants don't screw with her. She's not going to hug anybody when the show's over. Ever since he started Revo and Gunn made that stupid announcement he hasn't had sex in 29 years, I just can't watch him. He seems like a total sellout now.

a couple of things. Did anyone see Finn W. on Harry's Law recently? He did a pretty good job! Also, I am now addicted to the AMC reruns on Soapnet. I don't even care that it is the stupid Satin Slayer storyline. It has been great seeing Jonathan, Babe, Josh (I can fly a plane), Di, Zarf/Zoe, etc. I am loving it!

Shadow said...

I saw NuCole on an episode of Royal Pains. He's a pretty good actor. I don't really get that show though.

I've caught some of the 'classic' AMC SoapNet airings. It's amazing how much love and concern for characters help you overlook bad storylines. I enjoy seeing all those folks and thinking about their history & what's in store for them. I find it challenging watching Days, YR, BB, & GH. I don't have the same historical connections with those shows. Because there aren't any characters I've followed I tend to get distracted by the bad plastic surgery & bad writing. Onboarding some OLTL faves to GH was smart. They are crazy if they don't find a way to keep Kassie long term. Too bad they missed a shot to bring Angela Hubbard & her infectios disease expertise to GH to help Robin. Calling Dr. Hayward!

Shadow, I love me some Project Runway All Stars. Michael Costello is from Palm Springs (Palm Springs baby!). I think Rami is hands down the best designer EVER on PR and the fact that he lost to that pretentious PayLess Shoes spokesperson is a crime that I hope All Stars rectifies. I think half the designers were put there just to be eliminated quickly, and I hate that pasty Austin Scarlett too. I did not watch his season, and I wish someone would hold him down and shave that pre-pubescent mustache off his face.

ArmlessPhelan said...

SPOILER WARNING!

The new black kid on GH, TJ, is allegedly illiterate. In 2012. I CANNOT with Garin Wolf!

Shadow said...

Illiteracy is so 1990 in the age of iPhone 4GS & voice command. That's almost cute. They need to deal with that kid's real problem--like how to trade his Nokia Flip in early for an iPhone 4GS.

I'm caught up on Runway. It got better. Everybody's settling in. The new host grew on me. The judges are somewhat constructive. I do wish somebody would just scream everytime Cara speaks. I don't remember her talking so much before. Poor Jordana went home. She seems so sweet. And April is gone! She's the only true sour puss. I'll miss her, but that last dress was crap. Austin, OMG STFU already!!! I want him and Cara to get in a full on bitch fight & both fall out of the window. Otherwise I hope they both get eliminated in the rare double elimination eppy.

Once Upon A Time has me hook, line & sinker. Love it. Next week Emile de What's Her Face formerly Claire on Lost guests as Belle. Cannot wait!!

It's me Jordan Hudson

Just saw NBC'S SMASH!...... sigh...execution...it's not enough to have a great idea and concept. Some of the actors cast... awful. Some of the choices in the writing and directing trite, predictable and heavy handed. What pisses me off is that with all the producers a show has not one of them has the balls to say "Hey let's try and be original and really make our show stand out." yawn will try one more episode but seriosuly the men on this show are so bland, boring, annoying and talentless that they dull the brightness of the four female leads.
Maybe what SMASH should do is take a page out of the WOMEN and have no men.

Dr. Who's answer to Tea and Blair....Martha and Donna. Just finished seeign the three where Martha joins them......Everytime I think I can't love this show anymore it proves me wrong. sadly I had to follow that up with an Amy episode. I have 22 episodes before I'm all caught up. This show can never end.

Ingo's comment not justified at all. That is all I will say. TACKY! One has the right to their opinion but Frank and Ron just came aborad and they were not the one's responsible for writing Jax into a corner, writing him off or the bad storylines over the years. TACKY! All this hate is going to do is help quicken the death of GH. People need to be more positive about these gentlemen coming over. Beacuse in case anyone is watching GH IS PRATT AMC AWFUL and I can't watch the characters and actors having to struggle to bring some truth when their characters are acting out of character.

So I fell asleep twice while watching the first 20 minutes of Fox's TOUCH. I fast forward to end and Everythign I thought would happen...well happened. Touch by an Angel this show is not. I really want to like this show saw the coming attractions and just like the trailer for the pilot..... I'm like this my kind of show but I was so bored the only thing that woke me up was Keifer yelling. He thinks he is still Jack Bauer and has 24 hours to save the world.

Just got to episode 5 of Season 1 of Mistresses. Can't believ it's been only 5 episodes. So much shite has gone down with these women. I feel like I have known them for years....and the ending of episode 5.....DIRTY M*&^%$ F&*^%$#..okay I have to see episode 6 and find out how this will play out.

Dont care what the critics will have to say My ass will be in the movie theatre to see THE VOW and THIS MEANS WAR.

OMG Jane by design is becoming must see for me. This show is doing everything that I love. keep up keeping up

New Comic Book day... Dark Shadows issue 3...YEAH!!! Now If only I can figure out how to get $500 for the Complete series on DVD..... yes I'm a big GEEK!

Ashley said...

soutthLAnd last night. Lucy continues to impress. Regina shines and reminds me how F&*^ up she is not recognized with a nomination let alone a win. Carl Lumbly joins the cast and kicks ass. Ben get his swirl on and was too sexy in last night's episode. His swagger was just..... I was a mess. So want this man.

Also how could I forget the biggest thing about southLAnd last night (Okay second. First is still Ben and his swagger) the 227 Reunion. I fell off the couch when Marla Gibbs said "BRENDA!" flawless.

Seriously does he think admittingthat he hasn't had sex in 29 years will make people watch the REGURATATION! Timm Gunn T!M!I

OUAT last night broke my heart. I love a good romance story and nothing is beating Snow and James. Can't wait for next week.

The powers at NBC are so stupid. Instead of Investing in Whitney and Laura Pepperspray as Chelsea. They should bring After Latley on to the network. Last ngiht showed that this show is so much funnier then their current sitcoms (except Park & Rec which is their best.) Resse was hysterical.

OMG what a day...go to the mail and Ashley sent me the OLTL tribute book which I could not find anywhere here in NYC and even better my GL DVD arrived today HOLLA ClassiGL episodes....then the biggest crooks( next to NYC MTA ) At& T sent me my bill and they are trying to get over on me. I let Ricardo in customer service have it.

Best thing out Desperate Housewivethe last two seasons has been Mz. Williams. Vanessa's Renee is incredible and last night she showed why ABC needs to develop her own show. At least DH will go out with there head held high.

Terry in Toronto said...

Hey Jordan,

I took your advice and started watching Better Off Ted on netflix. Have now seen all 26 episodes. Amazing show. So funny every episode.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ashley said...

Terry
I'm so glad Better Off Ted is one of my personal favorites. I really was sad that ABC yet again did not stand behind a show of such quality.

Shadow said...

Better Off Ted was hilarious. I don't know why ABC didn't get behind it. It was so half-heartedly promoted. I don't think they really knew how to push it. ABC knows how to promo drama. Hell, the promos for Pratts AMC made it look amazing. If the writing & storylines had been half as good maybe AMC wouldn't have purged do many viewers. But Lost, Once Upon a Time, River... ABC gets that.

Jordan, so glad you're behind OUAT. I love it. I love Snow. I lust for the Evil Queen, except for that thing she does where she rips your heart out & squeezes it till you die. That's not sexy. But when she's spewing all that attitude & venom, yeeow!

Sitting on my hands waiting for Walking Dead to start again. Really looking forward to Mad Men. Freaking love that show & every character on it.

My guilty pleasures: Hoarding. It fascinates me. I'm no minimalist, but I'm organized and clean. Cannot imagine what goes on in there minds. Dance Moms. My girls got me hooked. Abbey Lee & the Moms are meaner & scarier than anything Storybrooke can dish out. It should seem terribly unrealistic, but sadly it isn't. I see and hear of examples every day.

Idol? I don't care yet. Voice? Not a chance. Xtina is so sad. I just can't support a Mousketeer gone 'ho.

Smash had 'suck' written all over it. NBC cannot pull that off. Maybe on cable--Bravo or something. Guys arent going to watch it, the Idol chick can sing, but if time has proven anything it's that she's a backup, a sidekick, but not a Marilyn.

Lucci was or is on Hot In Cleveland seeking advice now that AMC is cancelled. Set it to record. I'll report if it's funny or not.

Terry in Toronto said...

Anybody watched Good Wife yet? Just saw last night's episode and it was amazing! Best legal soap EVER! The twists and tangles just keep getting better and I love how they weave humour into the intrigue. Archie Panjabi who plays Kalinda is On Point! She proves that there are NO small roles.

ArmlessPhelan said...

I saw the pilot to Smash and personally loved it. The only complaints I have were Grace Adler seeming superfluous and the lack of diversity. Why does Hollywood think New York is just a bunch of white people?

GH is still terrible. Dreadful. Worst hour of my day. I don't know why I watch it. Probably because I love the actors. But Frank and Ron CANNOT start soon enough.

Shadow said...

Interesting to me about GH. Nobody is saying anything good about it. People, even die hard fans, are wailing on it yet SID is showering it with praise. Just odd.

ArmlessPhelan said...

In regards to SID, Shadow, one of the editors explained that the policy of the magazine is to try to be positive. Y&R is shiteous as well, and they try to point out what's good with the show.

For me, though, the only good part of GH is the performances. Those actors have been selling so much shit the last 10 years.

Arizonagal said...

YR - major suckage going down there, really despicable miserable characters. I would not recommend it to anyone. Debbi Morgan and MCE are rarely seen and their characters are blah, a real waste of talent.

GH - Good acting, some good characters, when the hell are Frank and Ron going to arrive, can't wait. The writing right now is abysmal and there are some characters that make me wonder is Judy Blight the new casting director on GH? Hopefully when Frank arrives that DBTE blond (Cassandra) will head south, among others. I hate all that mob crap, so boring. I'm sticking with GH until the OLTL peeps arrive. Is GH still going away in Sept?

Damn I miss OLTL. I'm watching the reruns on Soapnet and loving them, I still have my daily fix.

Good Wife was great, as usual. I usually start the show feeling slightly bored with all that legal stuff but 15 minutes in I am glued to the tube.

Glee, back on track, loved the MJ episode. Reminded me how much I like some of his old music.

Susan Lucci I have missed you so! She was great on Hot in Cleveland. She has perfect comic timing and gels with the cast so well. I hope somewhere, sometime soon she finds a steady gig so we can enjoy her again. Also, she just looks fabulous and not overly plastic surgeried.

Miss you JordAsh!

Arizonagal said...

I just want to give a shout out to Genie Francis, who rises above the material at YR. She is the only reason I am watching this show. She manages to be compelling no matter what they give her. Love her!

I noticed Frank's name in the opening credits, so exciting. Can't wait for Ron's material to begin airing. I want to feel the love. That's what I felt with OLTL, big time.

I noticed the other day that I have not yelled "Shut The F**k Up" at the tv since AMC was cancelled. That's how much I don't miss Cameron Mathison, he brought out the worst in me. OTOH, I miss me some Eek, Tad, Brooke, so much.

Anyone know the first air dates for the OLTL actors on GH? I hear TSJ will be the first one in Port Charles. I refuse to watch until they show up. I flipped the channel and swore I would stop watching forever when Jax asked for Olivia's help in his custody case and Olivia refused because she said Jason and Sonny had dangerous jobs, but they were not dangerous people!?!? I guess when a cold-blooded Sonny shot her son point blank in the chest, it was kind of like when those guys go out looking for crab on Dangerous Catch.

Shadow said...

I'm trying to care about GH but probably won't watch until the OLTL gang shows up either. I think some of the other returns are nice but I don't get the sense many GH fans care much. The show is so completely different. It's not the same as the AMC and OLTL returns. At least they don't have to bring the GH returns back from the dead.

Shadow said...

Props to Madge. That rocked.

Shadow said...

Dang. The Pine Valley Podcast apparently does not watch football.

Best National Anthem since pre-crack Whitney!

Kelly Clarkson singing it the Anthem with the Junior Appliance Retailers Club.

Madonna, relatively subdued, with Pom Poms, doing some very odd kicks. The kind of kicks you do when you're 53 and possibly arthritic kneecaps. There is a brilliant SNL skit here.

Miranda Lambert singing with terror in her eyes.

MIA made some obscene hand gesture. IDK who MIA is. WTH?

Bummed for the Patriots.

Terry in Toronto said...

Sorry Shadow. I guess you're all along on this one. I didn't even watch the half-time show.

Anyone watching Smash tonight?

Shadow said...

I'm DVRing 'Smash' Terry. If people say its good, I'll watch later. It's what I call 'Defensive Taping'. I just have this feeling it's ultimately going to crash & burn. Not really my cup of tea though.

I glanced at 'Hoarders'. Absolutely disgusting episode tonight. Can't wait to watch after we finish homework & get kids to bed. I knw somebody here has to watch the besides me!

Does anybody else not care about Voice? Christina Ag seems like a mess to me. Every time I see her the father in me is apalled. I think, "She was such a cute mousketeer." now she's looks like the dude in Twisted Sister.

Shadow said...

If you need an 'All My Children' fix, catch the latest 'Hot In Cleveland' and get 'Luccied'. I had it on DVR & just watched it tonight. Lots of winks to the AMC and Erica Kane fans. A smart, funny move out of the post-AMC gate for Looch with a dramatic turn on Army Wives to follow and her hosting gig on Deadly Affairs. I think the Grand Dame of Daytime will be just fine.

Terry in Toronto said...

I love hoarders Shadow! I don't get A&E anymore so I have to wait for episodes to show up on Netflix.

Shadow said...

Terry, I prefer the Hoarder stories about people who hoard and actually attempt to be organized - like the old guy whose father was an accountant during the depression. Having grown up with nothing he saved everything and hid his money in books and newspaper stacks all over his house. They found a lot of money and the poor guy was so tormented by the memories of his father working. Then there are those sick people who live in random piles of poo, spoiled food and trash. Seem to be running out of the more organized Hoarders w/ back stories. This week was all about the trashy Hoarder, but pretty interesting. The disconnect is fascinating. Hard to imagine people can separate from reality to such an extent their kids are forced to live in filth. Did you see the one with the NASA scientist/inventor?

Terry in Toronto said...

No I haven't seen that one. I probably have only watched the oldest episodes. I remember one where the couple hoarded cats and the crew found kittens all through the house and garage and also mummified cat remains. Creepy ... and fascinating.

Who in Llanview would be most likely to be a hoarder?

Shadow said...

I could one of Vicki's personalities being a Hoarder, Wanda Wolek, Gigi, Addie, the psychic lady....

What about in Pine Valley? Who would be most likely to hoard?

Arizonagal said...

Most times I want to smack the shit out of those hoarders, but like a bad traffic accident, I can't look away. I watch every episode and... eewwww.

Arizonagal said...

Most likely to hoard on AMC and OLTL. Well if I've learned anything about hoarders, it's that many of them start hoarding after a traumatic incident. With that said, everyone in PV and Llanview should be a hoarder.

Ashley said...

I'm putting my money on Adam and Liza's therapist Whoozi-Whatser-Face to be a hoarder.

ArmlessPhelan said...

Viki Lord was definitely a hoarder. She just kept collecting kids and relatives. Insanity.

Brooke probably kept every single one of Erica's divorce announcements, too. Just so she would know who was available.

Terry in Toronto said...

I think Roxie would be a hoarder.

Ashley said...

Oh definitely Roxie! I was gonna say Echo Di Savoy, but I think Roxie is a way better call on the hoarder question....

I was a non-spanish speaking teenager in Puerto Rico when I was caught singing "The Greatest Love of All" at the top of my lungs by the neighborhood kids there. Needless to say, I thought I sounded like Whitney, and they, well, did not.

How ironic that one of her greatest hits was about the greatetst love of all - loving YOURSELF. Sadly, it appears our Miss Whitney was not able to do that herself.

And so, yes, Ms. Terry, Whitney will be remembered by JordAsh on the next 'cast.

Love to all!!!!!

Nancy Grace just had to weigh in on Whitney setting off a firestorm of criticism after suggesting foul play in Whit's death. Grace is a cancer. I find it hard to believe she is on the same network as the totally smoking hot Robin Meade. Besides, I think Whit's demons and ultimate downfall stem from the nickname 'Nippy' which was coined by her father.

Looking forward to the podcast Ashley and Jordan. Whitney certainly had plenty of soap storyline in her real life.

Couple of good interviews:

This one from an AMC scriptwriter will choke you up:

There's a hyphen between 'losing' and 'all'. Like this:

Holy Crap--uthers! Michael E. Knight aka Tad calls Craputhers out for killing AMC in SOD! (says Jamey Giddens) gotta check that out!

Terry in Toronto said...

Hi Everyone,

Here's a great tribute to AMC in an opinion piece in the New York Times by a former writer for the show.

I caught part of MEK's interview, and what little I saw was glorious.

Loving Smash. I've kinda dropped all of my primetime shows but this one. Revenge is a really good show, too, but I have to be reminded it's on because it doesn't stick with me.

GH is better. Still not good, but you can see improvements. Ron said on Twitter his stuff starts this coming Tuesday, and he just consulted on the last week.

The whole Michael Knight interview with SOD is in their 2/28/12 issue, and I haven't been able to find the entire thing online yet. Here is DC's clip, which is interesting and leaves me wanting to know more more more!

DOWNTON ABBEY SEASON FINALE TONIGHT ON PBS STATIONS, YO'!

The New York Times has another article about soaps and focuses on OLTL. Why wasn't this published before the soap got cancelled?

Emerson Brooks (Ben - Jane's "cohort") wins Best Daytime Actor at the IMAGE Awards????

That awards show is worse than the Emmys when picking nominees and winners.

Started watching GH daily again a couple of weeks ago...there are still a LOT of things I'm FF through (NuKate...this means you) but there is a lot that I can see has some Valentini fingerprints on it. Ron's work starts Tuesday I believe and can't wait for that. Could Franco by Jason's relation through biological momma/slut Susan Moore Baldwin or nutcase auntie Heather Grant Webber Quartermaine??? That would mean Dr. Steven would be ties into this too which I enjoy.

TheGhostofVerlaGrubbs said...

Sorry was typing way too fast...minus the usage of wrong words, one correction: Heather is Jason's cousin NOT his aunt.

ArmlessPhelan said...

I've tried watching GH, and it's better, but it's still not good. I like Ron, but he's no LoBro. He isn't turning this ship around with the ease that she did AMC.

And I do not understand the NAACP Image Awards at all. Just another show I've stopped watching.

Shadow said...

Today Ron's material aired. People seemed to think it was better, but everybody's being cautious. Garin's marpterial was better at first too.

I YT'd Debbi Morgan's Harmony on YR. the ghetto speak doesn't seem credible. If her character clicks, I'm sure it will fade like Dixie Cooney's hillbilly twang.

I watched a little bit of Days. Still seems to be drawing on history which is smart, but the dialogue seems really clunky. The sets make you appreciate how delux Pine Valley was by comparison. Days sets are simple, small & cheap. Not all like the Chandler Manse, Wildwind, Erica's apartment. The Days sets remind me of Annie's Oak Haven room but with brighter paint. Malena & Sami were having some big 'Come to Jesus' confrontation. Couldn't decide if I should laugh or cringe:

Marlena: "I've faced my demons". Sami: "Literally". Marlena: "Cute".

Shadow said...

Nice seeing Finola Hughs on GH again. Carly is good but kind of annoying. The GH sets look DELUX immediately following Days episode.

Did they really just blow Robin up? Damnit, she's one of the few I recognize.

I love Cynthia Preston, I mean WhatsHerFace Quartermaine.

How many times has Sonny been shot?

I hate the GH opening, the theme song. This ain't easy.

I hate the GH opening.

Shadow said...

Is Jason on #GH good or bad now?

Shadow said...

Oh yeah! I saw Brynn Thayer on The Ringer. Dear God, she looked awful. The years arent being kind to poor Jenny Wolek Rinaldi.

Shadow said...

Ugh, SoapNet commercials are all about dripping pee leakage, uterine wall thinning. Yuck.

Shadow said...

'Once Upon A Time' - Who knew Cath was nice? Red is hot! 'Ringer' is heating back up. 'Revenge' is greatness. "WalkingDead" is amazing!

Hey, I store our Christmas tree in a bag just like Robin's body bag! I guess #GH shops at Container Store too?!

Very interested in getting people's takes on Janet Hubert vs. Wendy Williams...

Link was too long but check out pop confidential.

Terry in Toronto said...

Hi Ghost,

I think Janet is right on. What goes around comes around and Wendy Williams will get hers.

Terry in Toronto said...

NYTimes has a story on the remaining soaps ... or at least the ones that had reps who would comment. There are many references to AMC and their failure to come in under budget. I kept wondering how budget appplied to OLTL which was always under budget. Hmmmm.

I think Ron will be a good fit for GH and I can't wait to see his influence. Jason good or bad. Hmmm, how about boring. He is a ridiculous looking man who can't act and his orange spray tan is so distracting. When an actor becomes so self absorbed with his/her appearance they usually lose me. I find myself ffing thru most of his stuff. Also why do all these rich classy people hang with the mob? I hate the mob characters. Laura Wright, for petes sake, tone it down, too screachy for me. She did the SOS on GL. She is not god's gift to GH. Lil Robin Scorp, we'll miss ya! Anna, welcome back! Now if we can just get Genie Francis, H will be in good shape.

ArmlessPhelan said...

I'm with ArizonaGal. I love Laura Wright from her time on GL, but she doesn't try to make Carly sympathetic at all. And Steve Burton is ridiculous.

Ron has already made GH watchable, and even kinda enjoyable. I look forward to tuning in. I can't wait for his original stories to start.

Arizonagal said...

Yeah Steve Burton is so phoning it in. TIIC could ax about 10 folks, tighten the budget and make this show work, the potential is there. I have read on various blogs that GH viewers really resent the OLTL folks invading Port Charles, but think about it folks. This is a smart move to attract new viewers. I would not be watching this show if not for the OLTL connection. Maybe we can save this soap.

NEW PODCAST IS RECORDED. FINISHING IT UP. KEEP CHECKING BACK.

Terry in Toronto said...

Looking forward to the new podcast.

Will anyone be watching the Oscars tonight? I haven't seen half the nominated films. Did catch Meryl Streep in the Iron Lady yesterday. She is just an amazing actress. I know that gets said a lot but props go where props are due.

I read The Help but haven't seen the film yet.

Shadow said...

Terry, The Help was the best movie I saw this past year, it's on Netflix. Wonderful.

Terry in Toronto said...

I remember seeing The Help listed on Netflix Shadow back before the Oscar nominations were announced and being surprised at the time that it was available already. Well it is no longer listed at least not on Netflix Canada.

Arizonagal said...

Jordan thank you for calling the Iron Lady out on FB. I so agree w/you. She makes me cringe and there was something very "statue of liberty" about her dress.

Downton Abbey withdrawals last night. Walking Dead, please make me like some of these characters, so far I couldn't care less. In fact, I keep wishing one of them would become zombiefied.

GH should be great today, this week. Can't wait. Did I just say that?
