Things Are Not As they Seem

  • Erica Kane has the B5 boys singing her praises -- or so those ABC execs would like us to think.
  • Jesse finds an old stuffed elephant in his grave, and we find a lot of b.s. in the various turns this storyline is taking.
  • Blandie tries to reel Ryan in with her sweet, understanding ways (with a little Tawana Brawley thrown in for good measure).
  • Zach and Kendall kiss and make up -- again, and again, and again, and again....

Okay, so a lot is coming up on the horizon for our little show. Dixie and Greg Nelson will be back for a few eppys, Colby Chandler will grow up almost overnight, and tragedy will befall the citizens of Pine Valley once again. It's almost too obvious who's gonna take the fall, and I'm not happy about the odds against a particular, mini-handed lovely. What have you heard (or not), and what do you think about what you have (or haven't) heard? Tell us, please!, here.

I heard that Julia is going to leave and I believe she will be one of the ones to die along with Annie and Richie.

Hey guys...Loved the podcast this week! Jordan you know EVERYTHING!!! :)

(although i am also one of Pedro's fans!!! haha and Taylor too i love you all!)

I cant wait to see Cady on Friday...she looks so beautiful! i just hope they do Dixie justice and not ruin her like they did with the pancakes!

I feel like there is still a possibility they could undo Dixies death. especially since one character is supposed to see her. I dunno i dont think it would be difficult to change her death to a coma/kidnapping/went crazy or something. Am i just wishful thinking or does anyone agree?

Anonymous said...

OH! also! i heaed that our JOSH will be getting involved in a storyline!!! hopefully its not Spike and Ians Diaper Genie breaking!

Erica Kane said...

I agree with you Killybean. There is a very easy way to explain Dixie being alive. All they have to do is say David Hayward stole her from the hospital and revived her and she has been in a coma all this time. Since Adam is the only one seeing Dixie it can be explained away as a figment of his imagination or his conscience.

Erica Kane said...

Ooops !! I meant Jillybean...sorry!!!

Ashley said...

I agree. If they can undo Jesse's death, they can undo ANYONE's death! My only concern is that Dixie's "spirit" seems to be present in Tad's life, and she'll have an interaction with Jake, too, from what I hear, and that makes her much more "dead" than if she only appeared to Adam. I'm just uncomfortable with her being present to anyone in ANY form (blowing breezes, wind whistling, etc.) other than crazy Adam, who deserves to be haunted. I pray that they keep Dixie as lightly "dead" as possible!

Ashley said...

And yes - our girl looks bee-YOO-tee-full! I LOVE her long hair -- gorgeous!

Ashley,

Jessie was an organ doner and he visited pine valley in a ghostly form after the tornado
so if they can bring him back to life, then why not Dixie!!!

Loved the podcast this week Ashley & Jordan! I was laughing so hard about ABC promoting Erika Kane in B5's song. Too funny!

Like most everyone else I heard that they're going to get rid of our beloved Julia and it was that much harder seeing her briefly this week looking more beautiful than ever. I get so mad when Blandie gets so much screentime that I have to fastforward through, and Sydney Penney who is a terrific actress is hidden away for months and now is going to be killed off. Is it a requirement that you have s*^t for brains in order to be an ABC soap executive?

I will be happy if they kill off Blandie but not Richie. Like you Ashley, I think the character is interesting and multidimensional and I want more of him. That actor is doing a great job with the crap writing he gets.

I also agree with you that Robert is a cardboard cutout posing as a character. The shenanigans with the diamond and the gun at the gravesite were beyond laughable. How about he gets killed in his own explosion and Julia lives to complicate Tad and Dixie's reunion with Kate?

Josh & Amamda need to hook up. and that's all I'm saying about that.

I hope that Richie bites it in the big May death toll. He is just not needed on this show. Make Annie the psycho and get rid of Richie!! I finally got thru the podcast, had to stop to laugh a few times, and it is so cool that Jordan has the same idea about Dr. David having Dixie. I am liking miss ANTM as Angie's daughter, except for the "mommie" thing. That just gets on my last nerve.

hey guys, great podcast! ALL you guys rock and add so much to the show. very much appreciated. thanks for mentioning my thoughts, Ashley. Craputhers is just that, full of crap. LOL

now i'm going to start this off on a somber note because you know i try to keep ya in the know of what i read/ hear. it seems what i expected is sadly coming to be. *Jordan brace yourself*

SPOILER ALERT:

but i just read on a board, that on the cover of SOD, May 13th issue that SP (Julia) has been let go. *sorry*:(

as for the show, yeah my girl is back and she looks FABULOUS as always! now sure she's not in the flesh yet, but at least she's present. man have i missed her! loved what she was doing to Adam...DC rocked w/ his facial expressions and for tomorrow's preview LMAO shows Adam getting "air" smacked! that's what you get for talking bad about her, Adam. also IA Ashley they need to keep those ghost scenes just on him. BTW, love how they showed Adam taking pills and having a drink afterwards...that helps w/ what we want. even the breeze w/ Tad (beautiful scene, btw.), it's not so bad because she wasn't shown and it could even still just be said to be breeze. although we know it was her. pero si haciendo me la loca ayuda, then so be it. LOL as for her interaction w/ Jake...i hope it's not an actual ghostly encounter, but that due to something connected to Kate-thy is the reason he has to come back.

also you have to read what Frons said in the last SOD. he said great things about her. here's what he said:
"I adore her. I think she's one of the smartest, most creative people that we have in the lineup. I saw her onstage in New York and we're both very happy she's back."
*WOW*

as well as admitted how much he/the rest of the idiots screwed up in ref to her last return, the pancakes etc. however, he also said how they thought about bringing her back ALIVE, but decided not to because of Jesse's recent resurrection. overkill and all that. well then he should at least think about leaving a door open...like in a coma. need to write in some more.

Erica scenes...freaking HILARIOUS!

on that note, can't wait for the next podcast...until then.

you know what, i think it's time to give myself a name to go by...JerseyRican ;-)

If TPTB wants to bring Dixie back, then they will do it, death by pancakes be damned. I'm loving the show right now, but I find it depressing that they are going to kill off Julia, if the rumors are true. Then our bad Tad gets Kate without any hassles. I'm just hung up on Tad being a murderer. How do his past misdeeds make him in any way a fit parent?

xoxo to Ashley, Jordan, Taylor and Pedro.

With so many of the core characters on the landscape, NOW is the perfect time to bring back Liza. Although it would have been more perfect if they hadn't recast Colby. I would have loved to see the interaction between Ambyr as Colby and Beth Chamberlain as Liza. Jordan, is there anyone else you think could take on the Liza role?

I'M MOT AMUSED. Yes we knew it was Julia. I still say shame on the writers. It is just plain lazy. The problem with Soap Operas right now is the writing. Lazy writers that dont know how to create storylines with engaging plots that are character driven and keep building on that, to the next storyline. Killing Julia, so tad could get Kate with ease. DISGUSTING. Better to keep her alive and have a custody battle where the truth of what Tad did to Greg Madden could come out in the battle. It seems right now that the only headwriter worth his pay check is Ron Caveretti from OLTL. He did work under the wonderful Claire Labine. That show is old fashion soaps at its best. Don't get me wrong AMC has improved by leaps and bounds and it is better then GH at this point with there never ending Maffia storyline and rotating couples. Yet I won't ever be happy until AMC is as great as it should be and its heading there. They need to make the right move. Killing Julia Stupid. Brining Dixie back to life, not a ghost, but back to life brilliant. I said it in a podcast months ago. Real easy, the pancakes were from david. He wanted to whisk his daughter away from danger. Instead he got dixie and he was happy with that. He gave her that drug he gave Maria and she doesnt know who she is. I'll buy that and just about anything to have our Cady back. Also bring back Liza. We need Liza. Beth Chamberlain from GL would be perfect. Also Peter Courtland. Jesse Soffer ex- ATWT perfect for opal and palmer's son.
Okay I'm going to make like a river and flow.

I agree, Ashley. If they can undo a man getting shot in the head, poisoned pancakes will be a snap.

Thanks for the podcast! Keep 'em coming!

arizonagal There is a saying in the arts every actor is replaceable and I do believe there is some truth to it. Yet you have to look hard. I did Judy Bly Wilson's job. The best actress to come in to the role of Liza Colby would be Beth Chamberlain of GL. Anyone who has watched GL for the last few years knows what a talented and under rated actress she is. The PTB at GL just dont realize how lucky they are to have this incredible powerhouse among them. I say AMC should steal her away and Give her the respect she deserves a lead Diva role with meat and substance. I would love Marcy to come back but she has found God! Not that there is anything wrong with that.
After todays episode I'm ga ga over Ya Ya. She has some raw talent that girl does.

Arizonagal said...

Jordan, you're preaching to the choir here. I adore Beth Chamberlain and agree with you, GL is wasting this actress. She is so talented and engaging, no matter what drivel GL gives her. Like Debi Morgan, she's a woman of a certain age (I'm quoting you here Jordan). Beth can give us some meaty and layered performances and PV really needs it's Liza back. I tell ya Jordan, sometimes I wish you and Ashley were in control of AMC!

Jordan,

although there have been a lto of returns, there have been a lot of vet. actors leaving (or speaking out) against their soaps (on CBS), and Passions ending

i know you like Beth Chamberlain but what other actors would you like to see over at AMC to boost our little shows ratings a bit

Anonymous said...

WTF with Emmy nods? Could Kendall have cried anymore? Her bony body is wracked with sobs on countless occasions.Do not get me started on Zack, his understated acting is heads above all the rest. Now i love David Carry, but they only threw him in as a token because they knew he would not win against Anthony Geary. David was the ONLY acting nom that AMC got. There have been some amazing performances and this is horrible to not have the work recognized. Discuss

A few comments about the nominees. Just MHO, but I agree with the Toronto chicks, WTF happened to Zach's nomination? He definitely had more to sink his teeth into than Mr Canary, who gets the nom almost every year, NO? Other surprises, in the lead actress cat, Nicole Forrester gets a nom over Susan Lucci or Alicia Minshew? Disappointed no young actress nom for Ambyr Childers. Best drama series, I agree it's not AMC's year YET. Hopefully next year. Thanks for posting that list Ashley.

jordan hudson said...

For anyone who is interested Michael Logan who does the soap colum for TV Guide had an article, that this year they decided to do the nominations a different way. Needless to say he warned that the way they were doing it would lead to some very "suprising " nominations and not in a good way. Well needless to say boy was he right. I'M NOT AMUSED. Yes I did not expect AMC to be nominated for best show, writing or Casting. Yet the awards for acting has nothing to do with the overall show and more to do with the actors work. That's how come all those GH people get nominated and win. Yet for ABC as a Network (that is hosting it no less) to be almost shut out. Oh hell they were; 3 acting nods and two best soaps pathetic. I wont get started on who should not be up there. Yet I will say Alicia, Cady, Thorsten, Bobbi, Ambyer were robbed they should have gotten nominated for giving such great performances with the crap material McTavish gave them. Here is hoping that next year will be our shows year. They got off to a great start. Now if they could only bring Francesca James back as E.P.
Brown Penny
I do have to disagree with you Nicole Forrestor deserves the nomination adn I actually hope she wins among that list of leads some who should nto be there but again will keep silent. She is not cassie to me. It is like a different character. Don't buy her as Reva' sister ( Laura and Kim had a certain chemistry that well....) yet as an actress Nicole rocked when Tammy died and she had a meltdown and went after Alan for revenge. She was just haunting in her scenes as a grieving mother whose daughter was murdered. She deserves to be up there.

Good idea about hooking up Carmen and Mr. Van Peebles. They could be HOT together. I just can't see Erica with anyone but Jack, unless they bring back one of the exes from the dead.

And they should either bring Josh onscreen or let Dr. Madman come back from the dead (thereby restoring Tad's character) and tell everyone that the whole ridiculous stolen fetus thing was a scam. I like Josh, but Lord that was a sucky storyline.

Anonymous said...

Has AMC forgotten how to write humor? Erica's had some great stuff lately, but the rest of the cast are too damned serious. I'd love to Jessie lighten up a bit, a la Dave Chapelle. As for Zach, love him, but I can't remember the last time he laughed about anything.

Anyone know if Carmen is sticking around for awhile. Is she on contract? Love her.

Great podcast Ashley and Jordan!! You two freakin crack me up!! I am so glad Superposter got me into this podcast!!

Ashley, I love your singing in the beginning of the shows! I am laughing all the way to work. Erica, Erica, Eh Eh Eh Erica. LOL!! That song will forever be stuck in my head.

I hope Amanda and Josh get more airtime. I'm dying without my Mandy!!

Where the f*ck is Alicia's emmy nomination? Are you kidding me? Her baby was driven off a cliff, she went into premature labor for the umpteenth time, her husband died and came back to life, she admitted to an affair... Ms. Minshew had so many incredible scenes this year! This stuff with Ian and Spike in the hospital.. Are you kidding me?!

On a lighter note, Ashley, please say that on this week's podcast you're going to parody Erica talking to the lady bug.

I could see Carmen with the new Jake, or Tad. Yeah, I'd love to see her and Tad couple up. She's a unique character and unless TPTB water her down, she needs a man with some spunk and a sense of humor. Definitely not with Ryan or Aidan.

Jake and Greenlee, should be together with the first jake she was great not with the second (J.E.P). Besides
The Carmen and Josh idea could be cute, I mean Erica has been all about Carmen but what would happen when she wanted to date her son. Chances are La Kane would not stand for this LOL it would be interesting

There is a new web series called "imaginary Bitches" it stars Bianca, Maggie and Erin from AMC. Eden Riegel's husband directs and writes it, I have yet to watch it but the premise i heard sounded promising. You can watch it on the website http://imaginarybitches.com/Home.html

WHEEE! I'm famous! Seriously, Ashley and Jordan, thanks for the shout-out in the podcast last week. AS if I wasn't laughing hard enough careening down the highway, I was all smiles with the mention!

I just finished watching Monday and Tuesday and am loving it so far. That's what usually happens though. And the ratings reflect it. AMC starts out the week around a 2.2, 2.3 and then by Friday falls below 2. I would blame this on "Friday Cliffhanger Syndrome," but I don't think AMC has been using that practice for years.

Seriously, right now I feel like there are two crews writing this show right now. There are some serious flashes of brilliance when I think we're on the upswing and then I get b-slapped with "wiping detergent bottles." (Can you see it's going to be a long time before I let that go?) I know Jordan mentioned bringing in Claire Labine, which would be sweet, but where is Ms. Lorraine Broderick? Didn't we win an Emmy or three when she was around? She had that wonderful "gay teacher" storyline, the heyday of the Santos clan, Dr. Kinder-on-a-Plane (forget the snakes!), plus the beautiful Eva LaRue crying her heart out when Erica swiped little Maddy.

AS for the noms...meh. I really wasn't expecting AMC to get much so I'm not disappointed. Eakes's heavy stuff was too long ago to be memorable. AMC is building, though, so hopefully more in the future. (Plus they need to get the nomming process right!)

All is forgiven,
MR. CRS-17 ;-)

P.S. I'll post more after I finish watching more of the week.

OK, I'm back on the Erica Train now. And all it took was Mona From Beyond. That voice just came out of the pitch darkness, and with all the accompanying flashbacks, brought me back to why I watch this show. Mona From Beyond even wipes the ladybug slate clean. ;-)

Mr. CRS-17

P.S. See what I mean though about writer schizophrenia?

P.P.S. Do Paula Deen and the warden see the same hairstylist?

jordan hudson said...

MR. C...... howdy...Yes I was all goosebumps when I heard Mona's voice. Just like that, I was right there with Erica. It is so sad that soaps don't know how important the supporting and older characters are to the show. Mona was truly the one person who loved Erica unconditionaly. Especially with all the horrible things Erica use to say to her. Oh those were the days.
Yes I mentioned Claire because this is one show she has not written for.
She has done OLTL (The one time I truly watched the show day by day. excellent time for OLTL) and GH (the only time GH was brillant and intelligent no weather machines or aliens).
Yet of course I would kill to get Lorraine Broderick back as head writer. Her and Francesca should have never been let go. Lorraine gave us all those incredible scenes when Liza Colby returned. She out did herself with the liza and Marian scenes.
Rumor is they are looking at brining Gary Tomlin on as Head writer hmmmmm.

I might actually be watching OLTL again after I found out some spoiler alerts.

Ok, I just finished watching the week and what can I say?

I LOVED IT.

For the first time in a long time this show was solid top to bottom, Monday to Friday, Darfur to Ladybugs to the Paper Buffet!

I'm trying to think of what it was that made it so good this week, and I've come to the conclusion it was because everyone was played EVENLY. I love Kendall, but girl needs a vacation. Every storyline was played at least 4 out of the 5 days, the intro of Cass for J and A, Erica and Cell Block H, Adam's senility, fallout from Zendall, Graidan, (I know the podcasters don't care for Aidan, but he doesn't bother me; you have to admit RB is playing this to the hilt!) Everything just flowed; I was never tempted to say, "Get on with it already." Could this be a sign of the behind-the-scenes shakeup I'm hearing? Still, I hope it's at least a sign of things to come. Hello May Sweeps!

CRS-17

P.S. Line of the Week--When Kendall said to Josh, "Where the H#L1 have you been?" (or something like that)

Who is that lady playing the warden? She looks so familiar. And, oh, Mona. God bless her, I loved her relationship with Charles Tyler. Brings me back to when Phoebe and Mona were battling for Charles' affections, although clearly he only had eyes for Mona. Something which drove Phoebe nuts. Damn, I miss those old characters. Even though they were older, that love triangle just worked and I remember feeling Phoebe's pain at losing Charles to Mona.

I am so happy to loving my AMC again!
